I can ping a device if the device has an IP Address 192.1, provided I have made network adapter settings as shown in picture below. If I remove this Network Adapter Settings, it is no longer possible to ping this device. My objective is to still ping the device even without this Network Adapter settings. What I did to get it working was to shut the VM down, then go into the settings of the VM and ADD a LEGACY NETWORK ADAPTER. I then started up the VM - went into control panel/networking and there was now TWO Network Adapters there. The first was the original one not working - still with old IP addressing. The second was working fine (on DHCP). So, I tested I could ping in and out - which I could, then I went to the old NIC, set it for DHCP (knowing it would fail), then went to the new NIC, set it up as the same IP as previous, saved, tested ping in / out - success. I then disabled other NIC, rebooted VM and tested - all working fine. Using the legacy network adapter is not recommended. What you should do is updating the Hyper-V integration tools inside your virtual machine to support the most recent Hyper-V network adapter driver Hyper-V integration components update for Windows virtual machines - Microsoft Support .I prefer using free Starwinds V2V Converter V2V Converter / P2V Converter - Converting VM Formats for those kinds of conversions since it does that automatically creating a virtual machine and supports direct conversion to Generation2 virtual machines. And if I ran bootsync.sh after doing "sudo su", it *did* change the hostname, but then after I exited my current session, I was unable to open another terminal window or even hit the "power" icon to shutdown or reboot).I didn't ask you to edit anything while using TinyCore and was very explicit and specific as to what I wanted you to do and why, which you have continued to demonstrate the inability the grasp it! The reason for using a Linux Live OS distro like TinyCore is because it works without any special configuration changes and when using default NAT settings and using ifconfig to ascertain each VM's IP Address and then ping each respectively it is to validate that the default settings of both TinyCore itself and two NATed VMs can communicate showing that the VMware Virtual Network Infrastructure is working or not. No need to worry about Firewalls or anything out of the ordinary as it just works as is when the VMware Virtual Network Infrastructure is working!
