I am trying to sort one of my bookmark folders alphabetically but there is no "Sort By" option showing. It shows on all of my other folders. Mar 16, 2016 8:17 PM in response to clysa2000 First, drag the bookmarks folder to your Desktop. Switch to the Finder and open the folder. Choose the List view (View -> List) and then close the window. Once you have done that, you should drag the folder back to the Bookmarks window of Safari. If you browse to the newly added folder, you will note that it is sorted alphabetically now. The old, unsorted folder, however, will be still present in your Bookmarks window. Therefore, you can select it and press the delete key. You should delete the folder from the Finder too. You should bear in mind that you can use this trick to sort your bookmarks only alphabetically. If you select any other sorting criteria in the Finder, your bookmarks will not be displayed in that order in Safari. 🙂 Mar 17, 2016 11:17 AM in response to clysa2000 One way of alphabetize Safari's bookmarks: a look at Bookdog: Pins: try the 'quick n' dirty way': 😉Drag the folder with the bookmarks to your Desktop and the Finder window will automatically alphabetize the bookmarks. Jan 8, 2013 7:13 AM in response to Acicarbon There is no built in way to sort bookmarks in Safari, crazy I know. The quick and dirty method is to drag a bookmark folder out of Safari to the desktop. Its turned into a Regualr folder which you can then sort by name as you would sort any Finder window.When its sorted drag it back to Safari. Safari allows bookmark folders with the same name to exist so this won;t be a problem. Once you've dragged it back and checked it to make sure the operation went OK delete the original bookmark folder. When you drag the folder back into Safari you will not be able to drag it into the Bookmark sidebar (you can drag out of there but not back into it).No problem just drag the folder into the main bookmarks window and then drag it to the sidebar. Now I open the bookmarks and they have all gone, just the few default, not sure how this happened. Do you have a Mac computer running Lion or Mountain Lion? If so you can have the bookmarks shared between devices in the cloud.
