Both the strikethrough and the caret would appear in same color as default. You can change the color afterwards if required. Give it a try and let us know if you see any issues. You highlight the text you want to replace, start typing, and then it strikes through and places a blue mark indicating replacement text. It has worked fine for years, until now.
